What this map knows

Footprints, not a photogrammetric city

The model streams real building polygons from Overture Maps, with OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap as a fallback. Coverage and feature counts depend on the active tiles and zoom. Overture's public inspection tiles are used for this prototype, not guaranteed production hosting.

Height evidence is kept separate from styling

Order: positive source height → reported floor count × 3 m → provider render_height → your fallback value. A source height may itself be an estimate. The inspector does not call it a survey measurement. Exaggeration affects rendering only. Colored roofs, simplified building masses, and lighting are design choices; generic roof forms and façades are not reconstructed; optional flat-ground shadows are an illustrative graphic approximation.

Map context and area

Roads, parks, and water come from OpenStreetMap via OpenFreeMap. Street names follow the road geometry. The rectangular study area covers the historic center and immediate surroundings; it is not an official heritage boundary. Saved views and landmark labels use approximate navigation anchors, not monument surveys. Regional terrain uses the global AWS Terrain Tiles dataset and is off by default.

Use in your own project

The package includes a reusable BuildingModel module and a download script for a local Overture extract. Replace the source with your own GeoJSON or PMTiles for predictable hosting and a fixed dataset. Data attribution must remain visible; building data have their own licenses, independent of the prototype code.
